This chapter provides essential understanding of the spatial context during post-conflict recovery and reconstruction processes. This context includes the geographic location of each project and the spatial relationships to other projects, human settlements, infrastructure, natural resources, and key risks. Three main types of spatial planning are needed: national-level integrated plans, sectoral plans, and local land use plans. This chapter explains how such planning can improve resilience to various risks like disaster and climate change.
