A range of participatory methods for community-based safeguarding is presented and discussed in this chapter. Learners are reminded that community-based methods are important at all stages of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, from identification and inventorying to developing safeguarding plans. Questions to be addressed may include the following: What participatory methods exist? Can they be applied to any context? How to ensure the largest participation of community members, taking into consideration different ages and gender groups among others?
