Is UBI a good idea?

One of the key policy areas that people are debating now, especially in light of the pandemic, is whether it is a good idea to introduce universal basic incomes. In particular, the pandemic rekindled this discussion because there was a big concern that--in particular, in low and middle-income countries--that unemployment insurance doesn't exist. But is universal basic income or UBI a good idea?
