Climate Stress, Conflict, and Peacebuilding

This chapter explores challenges for peace and security efforts posed by both natural climate fluctuations and climate change in the long run. It considers ways that climate stress can increase the risk of violent conflict, as well as ways that climate vulnerability may undermine the long-term effectiveness of post-conflict peacebuilding efforts.
