This lecture examines the example of the United Kingdom, where the industrial revolution originated, beginning the start of large scale economic development and progress. It highlights the uniqueness and “perfect storm” of several factors in enabling this growth to begin where and when it did, including transition from agriculture to industry, new technology, urbanization, trade, and increased interconnection between industries.
