In this chapter, Petr Havlik mentions that the trade offs between climate mitigation and food availability are potential real in the developing world and presents several examples of mechanisms which can work to moderate these trade offs. These include a mechanism to close yield gaps, one to divide regions into major groups to determine the impacts of mitigation on food availability, case studies to compare policing mechanisms such as carbon taxes, and an initiative called the 4 Per 1000. There are three different strategies for how the contribution from agriculture can be made to reach targets, which consist of technical, structural, and consumption side adjustments.
