Akhuwat was founded in 2001 with the vision of creating and nurturing a poverty-free society to be built on the principles of compassion and equity, and to support the underprivileged members of the society in becoming self-reliant and contributing.
Today, Akhuwat is the world’s largest interest-free microfinance program. Since its establishment, it has been able to disburse more than around $900 million. The number of loans exceeds 4 million, and the recovery percentage is more than 99.9%.
